There is nothing to watch on Netflix no more, you basically watched them all. You even binged watched some of them twice. Can you imagine? You must be going crazy staring at this screen trying to get out.
You might not be the only one but I have heard at least 20 people this week telling me that they are just so tired of binge-watching TV. There are absolutely no more shows to entertain them. I mean they even watched The Crown and Bridgerton for the second time. So you might think, what else can we do.
If one thing Canada thought me when I first arrived is that mother nature never disappoints you in here. Don’t get me wrong all countries have their own beauty but when it comes to nature and plan air activities Canada never seems to leave the lead.
So the first step is to choose your favorite out of many and get equipped. But even if you don’t know which one you will like more, no need to worry, there is always equipment to rent for the first time. Depending on the weather and obviously the season there are more than 50 different activities to engage with.
Personally, I chose Ice-Skating this winter. It was something that I always wanted to do and there are so many beautiful rings out here to skate around, interior and exterior. So all that I needed to do was to get myself a pair of ice skates and some warm socks.
I didn’t want to spend so much on it so I got my skates from a second-hand store for $25 and got myself some warm socks which are specialized for winter weather for $30. And I was “Prete”. My favorite ring has to be "Domaine de la forêt perdue". The entrance is about $22 and you will get access to the site and the animals for the whole day. I also enjoyed skating in interior rings for practice but I'm a wild child so I prefer to be outside all the time.
But ice skating is not the only activity out there. Obviously, there are cross-country skiing (Ski de fond), Alpine skiing (ski Alpin), fat bike, snow Shoe activities (Raquette de neige), and … I mean if all this doesn’t interest you get yourself a good pair of crampons and hit the trails. The weather can be freezing cold out here but you will get used to it at some point.
When the snow starts to melt and once again the trees are green, healthy, and back to business, it's time to hit that water. Yes, you heard me right, HIT THAT WATER. Remember that summer doesn't last here long so enjoy the three months of warmth and do as much as you can.
Paddleboard, Canoe, Kayak, or even rafting. Maybe even go for canoe camping along the Saint Laurent river. Summer activities can be a little expensive just like winter equipment but hey, You are in Canada so live a little.
And if the warmth of the river and sea doesn’t excite you, you can stick with the trails of forests and mountains. There are just so many of them that you won’t even need to drive so far to get to one. So just pick up your bag, get your sandwich ready, put on some comfy shoes, and hit the road jack !
